Privacy Policy - Kintsu

This Privacy Policy explains how Kintsu, developed by One4Studio, handles your information. Kintsu is designed to be deeply private: there are no accounts, we run no ads and no third-party analytics, and your personal content stays on your device.

Information We Collect

Data Stored on Your Device

Everything you enter in Kintsu is stored locally on your device and, if you enable iCloud, synced privately through your own Apple iCloud account. This can include:

  • Your journey details — start date, goal days, and optional context such as the other person's name, who ended it, the length of the relationship, and dates you mark as difficult
  • Your recorded “voice vow” audio
  • Letters you write in the sealed Vault
  • Mood check-ins, slip logs, and urge “wins”
  • Your streak, lesson progress, and app preferences
  • Whether you have an active Kintsu Pro subscription

This information is stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData and, when available, synced to your private iCloud (CloudKit) container. It is handled entirely by Apple on your behalf — we run no server of our own, and we can never read this data.

Voice Recordings

If you record a voice vow, Kintsu uses your microphone and saves the recording as a file on your device. Voice recordings never leave your device and are not sent to us or anyone else.

App Lock (Optional)

If you enable the privacy lock, Kintsu uses Face ID or Touch ID to unlock the app. This authentication is handled entirely by Apple on your device; we never receive your biometric data.

Notifications

With your permission, Kintsu schedules local notifications for milestones, daily check-ins, and reminders. These are generated on your device.

Subscriptions & Purchases

Kintsu Pro subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. Apple and RevenueCat handle purchase information (such as an anonymous purchase identifier and receipt) under their own privacy policies. We never receive your card or payment details.

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and personalize your recovery journey
  • To keep your content in sync across your devices via your own iCloud
  • To manage your subscription

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising. We share limited information only with the service providers needed to run the app: Apple (App Store, iCloud) and RevenueCat (subscription management).

Data Security

Your on-device data is protected by your device's security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID) and iOS sandboxing. Any iCloud data is protected by your Apple ID and Apple's encryption.

Data Retention & Deletion

Because your data lives on your device and, optionally, in your private iCloud, you can delete it at any time by uninstalling the app and removing Kintsu's data from your iCloud settings.

Children's Privacy

Kintsu is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page and update the date below.
