How to generate a grocery list from recipes in Vule

Writing a grocery list by hand means going through every recipe, noting down ingredients, checking what you already have, and trying not to forget anything. Vule does all of this automatically — generate a full grocery list from a single recipe or your entire weekly meal plan with one tap.

When you generate a list, Vule automatically categorizes items by store aisle — produce, dairy, meat, pantry, and so on. If multiple recipes call for the same ingredient, Vule consolidates them into a single entry with the combined quantity. No more buying garlic three separate times.

Here's how to use it:

  1. To generate from a single recipe: open any recipe and tap 'Add to Grocery List.'
  2. To generate from your meal plan: go to the Meal Plan tab, tap the menu, and select 'Generate Grocery List' for the week.
  3. Vule creates the list instantly, sorted by aisle category (Produce, Dairy, Meat & Seafood, etc.).
  4. Check off items as you shop — checked items move to the bottom of the list.
  5. When you're done shopping, transfer purchased items to your Inventory with one tap.

You can also add items manually to the grocery list, or use the barcode scanner to quickly add packaged products. The list syncs across your devices with iCloud, so you can add items at home and check them off at the store.

Tip: Use the weekly meal plan grocery list to shop for the entire week in one trip. Vule consolidates duplicates across all recipes so your list stays clean and accurate.
