Squircle Icons
A squircle is a mathematical shape between a square and a circle, commonly used as the icon shape on Samsung devices and in icon packs like Ares that provide a consistent, modern icon container.
A squircle (square + circle) is a superellipse shape that blends the curves of a circle with the straight edges of a square. Unlike a simple rounded rectangle, a squircle's corners flow smoothly into its sides without any abrupt transition — the curvature is continuous.
Apple popularized squircles with their iOS icon shapes, and Samsung followed with their OneUI default icon mask. The shape feels modern and balanced — more structured than a circle but softer than a rounded square.
One4Studio's Ares icon pack series is built entirely around squircle shapes. Every icon sits inside a clean squircle container with consistent sizing, creating a uniform grid that looks polished. Ares comes in five variants (Regular, Light, Dark, Black, and Arctic) to fit different wallpaper themes.
Tip: If you want squircle-shaped icons but your launcher's default mask is circular, switch the icon mask to squircle in your launcher settings. With Ares, the shapes are built into the icons, so you can disable the launcher mask entirely.
