Material You

Material You is Google's dynamic theming system introduced in Android 12. It automatically generates a color palette from your wallpaper and applies it across your entire phone — icons, widgets, system UI, and supported apps.

Material You (also called Material Design 3) is Google's personalization framework that debuted with Android 12. The core idea is simple: your wallpaper defines a color palette, and that palette flows through your entire device — notification shade, quick settings, lock screen, and any app that supports dynamic color.

For home screen customization, Material You is most relevant through adaptive icons. On Android 12 and later, apps can provide monochrome icon shapes that the system recolors to match your wallpaper. This creates a unified look where every icon shares the same tonal palette.

One4Studio offers dedicated adaptive icon packs — Lena Adaptive, Caelus Adaptive, and Vera Material You — that are specifically designed for this system. They provide thousands of themed icons that respond to your wallpaper colors, going far beyond the limited set that most apps provide by default.

Tip: Material You dynamic theming works best on Pixel devices and launchers that support it natively (like Pixel Launcher and Lawnchair). Samsung devices support it through OneUI 4+ but with some visual differences.
